The Bivol Trust aims to provide social opportunities and skills development for people with disabilities aged 11-45 years. These aims are achieved by the following:
* Running weekly groups, either smaller and skills based, such as the Music Group and African Drumming Group, or larger and more social, such as the Portsmouth Youth Club.
*Providing worthwhile and enjoyable activities
* Allowing the participants to practice skills
*Providing an opportunity to make friends and for lessening social isolation
* Helping the individuals to build confidence and self-esteem
* Providing a short break for parents and carers
The Nuts and Bolts:
The trust is run by a management committee of 8 trustees which includes young people and parent representatives. The Director of the trust reports to this committee and has operational responsibility for all group and project work. The trust employs 8 sessional workers who staff the groups. All staff and volunteers are DBS checked.
